Reef Trust III is aligned with the Reef 2050 Long-Term Sustainability Plan.
The Government is providing $45.6 million to the Reef Alliance to deliver a statewide approach to reducing sediment, nutrient and pesticide losses across Great Barrier Reef catchments. Just over $9 million is being allocated to deliver cane targets in the Wet Tropics over 3 years.
WTSIP is responsible for delivering the project's cane targets in the Wet Tropics, which is to support 399 cane farmers (representing nearly 52,000ha of land) to move beyond BMP.
The program involves training and extension, grants and support for farmers trialling new ideas and innovations.
